It's hard to be not get angry when there are, in fact, many prejudiced people out there. Most white people do not realize how real racism is on a daily basis for African-Americans and other ethnic groups, but you cannot try to educate people.

I often think about how wonderfully we are doing, being here in the USA forging great animosity-free relationships with white people. Just imagine Jewish people remaining in a Nazi regime in Germany -- and the two having to get along with each other.

While I am not calling white Americans Nazis by ANY means, you can see the parallel with the situations. Instead we learn to get along and keep the anger in check. Native Americans are trying to do this, with some success, but I think we are really doing very, very well under the circumstances.

Just keep in mind that MOST white people are either neutral or OK. Don't assume the worst when you talk with them -- it will only make you depressed and be unfair to them.

Then work hard and be a contributing member of this country we helped build. Think of the legacy you will leave behind to kids and for the country. Each of us actually has the ability to change the country for the better by helping to improve it. Keep moving forward, my brotha'!!!!

Sometimes because of how people are raised. People are born knowing nothing until the idea is put into their head. In a world such as ours, good ideas and examples are set before us, but the bad normally out-numbers the good, especially if the person was raised in a hostile or narrow-minded household. This may sound hard, but forgive them. They dn't know or understand what they're saying. Other factors also come into play as well.

You seem to be an understanding person, so I'll leave off with this: in our society, stereotypes and prejudices are everywhere. Don't let words of others stop you; giving up would let them win. Prove them wrong. Do it for you, not them. Don't let what peple label you govern your actions and your image of yourself.

Why are people prejudice???

Simple... Its easy. Why go through all the effort into knowing or getting to know you? It is so much easier to make a quick judgement of people, created a set of 2-to-4 boxes of people categories and throw everyone in it.

Its good b/c it allows you NOT to think, just react to things in life; if you only 'react', then you are not stressed b/c the life would be nice, orderly, non-changing item and there is little to place in mental effort towards life. It's a deficiency when life does as it always has (... grow & change ...) and then your environment is chaotic. If something substantial happens, then there is no 'model' to react against and they are thrown in constant confusion. On a minor scale, it can mean depression; on a larger scale it can mean life-ending consequences.

Well, I have good news and bad news: Prejudice usually reflects a fear of the unknown or unfamiliar; coupled with just plain ignorance and propaganda often perpetuated by misguided parents. It is often passed down from father to son. I don't believe we will live long enough to see it completely eradicated; but there have been some great strides toward more unity (which is the good part).

It is often unwittingly participated in by both involved parties; and in an unwillingness to believe they are respected or seen as a complete human being. Attitude plays a large part toward fueling the flames of prejudice. It is hard to know when you are being dissed and when the other party is innocent of ill intent...and simply floundering in their attempt to breach the gap. I've witnessed both versions.

Anyone who knows me personally; also knows I am completely devoid of these issues. One time this ole' black gal got in my face and played the race card on me. I told her, "No, it has nothing to do with it...and I still don't like you." She blamed all her negative interactions on the color of her skin...but it is also sadly revealing...because she probably has known a great deal of prejudice within her life-time; and she could no longer know the difference.

It is how these things can spin out of control. There are many forms of prejudice; including but not limited to the way someone looks, or their economic circumstances. We are often judged by superficial standards. Sometimes, I feel as though people aren't happy unless they have something to hate.

Hatred is an act of cowardice, a sense of superiority and entitlement. They have a need or desire to feel better about themselves at the expense of another. What a shame, huh?

I wish people could be individually evaluated on their own merit....but I live in the real world. I do have the courage of my convictions, however…and have known a more subtle and insidious form of prejudice by association. It gave me an inkling of what it must be like for certain people in certain regions of the country. I try to offset it and educate as best as I can.

I don't want to think about the ramifications on someone’s spirit or a small child's bird's eye view of the world. Hatred is an evil emotion benefiting no one. It hurts the hater as much it does the target of their wrath. It will eventually die a quiet death; but I doubt we will be around for it...and I imagine it will simply be transferred to yet another unsuspecting group of human beings.

I have discovered that people of color often have a strength of spirit not present in someone without these Life experiences. There is something about it that does ennoble the spirit; and can be a very blessed thing. I have a lot of respect for people who hold their heads up high in spite of this unwarranted adversity.

Maybe there should be a exchange program where people can trade places for a little while; or live in homes with people different than themselves…then they’d understand better. Until then, we can all do our part by refusing to participate in it and in any of its many myriad and thinly disguised, unsavory forms.

I Honesty don't understand why people are prejudice. But I think it may be because some people Judge the outside before getting to truly know someone. I also think there is a lot of stereotypes out there and some people just believe it all.

People who are prejudice, and judging from some of the answers that are already posted to your question, are generally unsatisfied and uneducated in their own lives so they feel they need to be superior in order to feel empowered. Be true to yourself and those that really matter in your life will shine through and those that don't will be a learning experience of what not to do with yourself : )

A little thing called superiority; If you remember this commercial a while back (a dog food one); but it went like this.."my dog's better than your dog..my dog's better than yours" well that is the human mind; There is nothing wrong with being proud of who you are; God wants that out of us; but when you take it to a point where you feel that you are "ALL THAT" and can't be beat, better than the chips, etc, etc, well, that's when you have the prejudice thing; You look like a brother in your avatar, so let me say this to you: In this life, we WILL experience, sadly, prejudice in life; BUT, if you stay on top of YOUR destiny instead of letting that be in charge of you, well you lost half the fight; before you walk out of that door of yours psyche yourself up, pray yourself up and be in charge of your day; Remember, folks will be prejudiced, but that's their loss; peace.

there are too many stereotypes. People have poor attitudes to try to change the stereotype. They think that no one will ever look differently at their race, religion or what not, so they dont even try. The world need more positive people like you in it. We need more positive people who want to prove all the haters wrong. make everyone think twice.

that's good that u keep pushing on and idk why people are so prejudice sometimes. it irritates me because what kind of a way is that to treat another human being? they're just as human as you and they have feelings too. just because they're black or white or Chinese or Latino or whatever you shouldn't do that to people. that's cruel to me because u wouldn't want to be treated like sh*t so u shouldn't treat other ppl like that.
