I just bought a house, and there is a streak of moss built up across my back porch roof, and it needs to be removed for insurance purposes.

for starters DO NOT USE A PRESURE WASHER ON YOUR ROOF. By doing that you will remove the granulars or stones from your shingles and thats not good. Moss is a very easy thing to get ride of all you really need to do is take a broom and sweep it off (go with the flow of the shingles other words down). Then you wash the roof down with a garden hose and your all set.
Now the resion you have moss is most likly from a low hanging tree over your roof. You need to have someone trim the tree back so the sun can shine on the roof and keep it dry so this problem does'ent reapear

I live in the mossy Pacific Northwest and I use Moss Out on my roof - neighbors speak well of Moss-B-Gone, too. I use the powder, but there is a liquid also. If you just have the one area of moss, the copper strip might be cost effective for you, but for the size of my roof I found the copper strips cost prohibitive as each "peak" for lack of a better word requires a strip down each side. As advised earlier, DO NOT use a pressure washer on your roof - expensive mistake in the long run as you decrease the life of your roof.

Seems the mas would insulate the tiles and protect roof. I think stringing a copper wire along the top of the roof so that the rain washes down is a deterrent to moss and mildew. Probably have to scrape it off first. Good luck
