Money is NOT the root of all evil. Organised religion is.

Oh, Mr. Gecko is back. In many dictionaries, greed is _by definition_ not good. Look at this one:

An excessive desire to acquire or possess more than what one needs or deserves, especially with respect to material wealth:

A tremendous desire to acquire wealth would not be bad if, say, the main reason was to give to a worthy charity. If the wealth "trickles down" to the workers or the society, then acquisitiveness would not be bad. It often happens within a Capitalistic framework, but not always. The answer, therefore, is sometimes yes, and sometimes no.

Don't confuse GREED with a desire to be prosperous. I think it's a noble pursuit to want to become financially stable and not be a financial burden to your loved ones. Excessive greed is, of course, not a good thing. Take a note from Warren Buffet. It's important to give back. I don't make tons of money, but whenever there's a blood drive of or a food shelf collection, I am THERE.

No, greed itself is NOT good. However, we live in a nation where even greed can be harnessed for good. That is the advantage of the free market economy...even the bad motives can be harnessed for good results.

Think about it. Wouldn't you rather live where bad intentions lead to good results, instead of one where good intentions lead to bad results?

Considering that greed is basically the force behind every single war fought history, probably not.

What do you want things/money/possessions for?

If you love the money (the root of all evil is supposedly the love of money not the money itself) rather that what having lots of stuff can help you do (hopefully good deeds...heh....heh..) then Greed is bad.
