-If you are sexually active refrain from activity for a couple of day before you go (it can affect pap smear results).
-Take a shower and just wash like you usually do so that you are not self conscious about smells or anything else.
-If you know that there are questions that you are going to want to ask, go ahead and write them down. That way you can really concentrate on what they are saying instead of obsessing over the next question you want to ask.
-If you were planning on wearing flipflops or some other kind of sandle....bring socks. The stirups that you put your feet in during a vaginal exam can be cold.
-If you are really cold natured bring a clean blanket with you in case the examination room is cold and you have to wait a few minutes. Most places you have to change into a paper shirt and paper wrap-around.
-Prepare yourself for a possible breast exam. My first time I did not even think about that and I was mortified to have someone I didn't know touching my breasts. They sometimes do this when you go (even when you are young) so that they can show you how to check on your own.
-Finally...just relax...the first time you go can be nervewracking because it is something new and it is dealing with a part of your body and life that is not usually a topic of conversation. As a woman though, it is the health conscious thing to do. Good for you for going.

just make sure your clean hunny! it's so embarassing in the first place to be totally exposed. i'm 30 years old and STILL get weirded out by Drs. going down there. make sure you don't have to use the bathroom either and if you do, bring babywipes with you just in case to wipe up after. you don't want to be self-concious of any weird smells or stains. and you probably will have your breasts examined as well. someone mentioned that above. just know that EVERY WOMAN HAS TO DO IT. think about it, jessica simpson has done it, paris hilton has done it, all the girlies you probably look up to had to go through it. then you'll feel like a normal girl afterwards. it's what big girls do! tee hee!

you CANNOT have sex for 72 hours (that's 3 days, darlin) before your appt. outside of that, there's really nothing you have to do.
