Of course it is the same, thats why they have 2 seperate names so everyone knows they are the same item, wouldnt want to get them mixed up now would you.

The UK post office will issue a money order in Canadian dollars that will be accepted in Canada. There is an agreement between the post offices and has been for a long time.

Umm no. A postal order is something you take to the post office to get cashed. Funnily enough they don't have uk post offices in Canada.
