Because they don't know how to get right to the point and shut up!

Women are three-dimensional. They see multiple angles in everything. A question provides the potential for many, many, angles. Women also think of several different things at the same time (how am I feeling?, why did my coworker not smile at me today?, what will I eat for lunch?, what will I wear?, what is so-and-so wearing?, does it match?, what shirt should I buy? do these pants make me look fat?, etc. etc. etc.)

Their thought process can span their emotions, the emotions of others, their enviornment, the meaning of someone's tone of voice, how the descisions they make will affect their immediate and distant future, and much more and all within seconds.

Therefore, a question is really a need for them to explore every possible angle so as to come to a conclusion that satisfies every uncertainty posed by the question. Women could talk for hours about the answer to a question. And most of the time, they never limit the amount of answers that they can give to one question. There is always another angle to be considered.

Because men are the stronger sex (in most cases) and they can simplify things. Women have all sorts of things to deal with ...like raging hormones every month , raising children, taking care of themselves and their husbands...etc. etc.....and getting ripped off by mechanics, plumbers, carpenters, tree surgeons , appliance repair men etc. So that's why we go into so much detail...it's hard for us to get our point across in just a few words. I respect men that can do that.

Because we women want to make ourselves clear so we answer in greater detail. A reason we make better communicators, too. As for the answering more questions... well, not to be offensive but a lot of guys are lazy, easily distracted... take your pick.

Because we want to make sure we are understood. We don't like to just talk for the sake of talking so if we go into detail then everyone will get the point. .

Women have more of a nurturing instinct. They naturally want to use a lot of energy to help in a motherly sort of way. Men are, in comparison, all business. It is instinctively more natural for a male to spend his energy pursuing something that will provide (like a hunter) a tangible reward.

More women can type. Just these couple of lines took me hours to type out with just one finger.

And women are also more emotional and caring and like to help people out and offer advice. Most guys can care less......

Guess I could go into more detail....but I AM a guy...

Women are all about details. We want to know all of them and think others do too.

Because we want to be understood...leaving nothing open to question...The majority of women (I'm not saying all cuz I dont wanna offend the guys) are better at expressing their emotions...
