when I was 8 years old we had a family friend (whom was a male and at the age of 15 at the time) come babysitt my older brother my sister and I one night while my parents went out for dinner. half way through the night he told me that he need to talk to me and to meet him in my bedroom. he then shut the door behind us and locked, then came twoward me and started beating me up and raping me. Now 10 years later I am still having nightmares from it and having a hard time of letting it go or forgettting it, that way I wont have it take hold of my life. Theses nightmares have been getting progressively worse over the years and bring me to tears and tormant every night. I don't know how to get rid of them. Please Hellp!

I am very sorry you had to go through that... has this person been reported? I will pray that the Lord will take these nightmares away from you. There are no easy answers but by God's grace (a strength only He can give you) you need to forgive your attacker. NOT because he deserves it, but to loosen the chains that the memory of his attack and what it has done to you have on you. Please let go. I will pray too that the Lord will give you emotional healing from what has been done to you. God Bless!!

Have you tried therapy? I was molested as a child. I suffered with panic attacks, and nightmares. Originally went to therapy for something else. It helped me tremendously. Some thing may be triggering the night mares too in your life that you are not aware of. When children are raped or molested it has a life time effect. I hope you find the peace you so need. It might have to do with your age too. I had repressed my molestation. When I graduated from H.S. is when I really started having problems. It was then that it came out I was molested. My parents never talked about it. Even after I asked about it. They told me it happened. But they never talked about it. They just told me it was taken care of. If you would like to talk you can talk to me you can.

I totally understand what you are going threw. It happened to me. I did not feel comfortable going and receiving professional help did not have the money too. But what I did do is that I decided to take my life back. And how I did that was with the help of God and sharing my story with other people. I know that sound like a Dr. Phil moment but it is true. Prayer really works. Find someone that you trust completely and tell them the whole story and keep talking about it. Find a local survivor of incest group where you are from and get active in that. And if you need someone to talk to you can contact me.

Well it sounds like you need a therapist that specializes in night terrors. Before you go to bed you could try thinking of something positive that you are interested in or makes you happy. Do you have any hobbies like drawing or??? Just dont think about anything negative (if you can help it). I wouldn't recommend any violent movies. Get a few friends together and go out and have fun, this will distract your mind from unconsciously focusing on your traumatic experience. You can also ask God to help you. I wish you well. Take care.

Well I don't know if your reliegous but I know in my sittuation prayer has helped. For a long time after that happened to me I just put it in the back of my head but after awhile you have to deal wtiht what happened and allot of times that means counseling. You need to seek out an organization that helps Domestic Violence Victims and Sexual Assault Victims. I work for one and we help women to overcome allot of bad child hood experiences. You could every night before you go to bed ask God to help you not dream of it and to also tell your mind out loud, I am going to sleep now you meditate on the Lord, while my body sleeps.

well try a life coaching trick. You play the situaltion like a video forwards then you play it backwards each time a little faster and faster then getting shorter and shorter then suddenly put in some cartoon music and play it forwards then backwards then put in some catoon characters until you have no more situation just music and cartoons. it works stick to the pattern. good luck

There is no way to forget them completely, but God helps to comfort you when you remember it.
