My fiance was born with a high hernia and was told that he would never concieve a child....yet, we would like to have a baby one day{ in a year or so of course because I have a nine month old now}. Is there anything that would help us conceive when we decide to or is it hopeless? His ex claimed to have gotten pregnant a few times and misscarried every time, but we are not positive that she didn't cheat on him. If he did get her prgnant, could a problem with his sperm have caused the miscarriages? I am just curious and need some serious help. Thank you to everyone in advance for your help.

Someone asked if the nine month old is his? No, but he is the best father in the world to her and she will never know any different. That is the reason I am concidering having his baby because honestly when her 'biological father' and I split up I never planned on haveing anymore....I was just gonna love the one I had. I didn't want to put her though any BS with two daddies and all {I hope you understand} or another child either.

I really don't have any personal knowledge on this nor have I done much reading on the subject but I felt bad about the insensitive comment you received and wanted to try and share something beneficial, however small. There is a paragraph in the book I'm reading on getting pregnant that touches briefly on hernias and male fertility but pretty much all it mentions is that the blood supply to the testicle could be cut off during surgery to repair a hernia. This would lead to the testicle dying, which would of course mean no sperm production. I know next to nothing about hernias, but assuming your fiance never needed the surgery I would think he would be fine, but of course I'm not a doctor. I did find this small article that also seems to offer some hope. http://www.doctorndtv.com/faq/detailfaq.asp?id=1903

So the nine month old is not his? OK, I am going to assume it is someone elses 9 month old. OK. Nope his sperm would not cause a miscarriage, a lot of things could be the cause of that but I doubt it that his sperm is mutated. His ex gf might just not have had a good body to have babies.

I would suggest talking to your OB/GYN. He may need to get sperm testing done to see if they are OK. Also, if they are and he is unable to impregnate you himself, you might need to get in-vitro.
