A few years ago, USA Today did a feature where they counted down the most difficult things to do in sports. The most difficult was to get a hit off of a major league pitcher. The 2nd most difficult was to pitch a ball past a major league hitter. The average fastball is about 88 mph. This gives the batter about 0.4 seconds to decide whether or not to swing, what type of pitch it is, and actually swing the bat. Case closed.

Soccer is definately a more physical sport. In baseball, the only time that players get close to each other is if there is going to be a tag, or if someone is rushing the mound. Soccer is also more of a mental game. There are a lot more aspects to soccer than baseball. Such as formations(baseball is always the same), set plays(baseball doesn't have), strategies (the only 2 strategies I've seen in baseball games are either 1. bunt and let the fast guy run around the bases; or 2. hit the ball as hard as you can), and-- like someone else said--to play soccer you have to be very physically fit, where in baseball there are heavier people, and older people who sweat their asses off running around the bases once(total of 360 ft., which is close to soccer field length, but no soccer player runs in a straight line the whole game). Also, for the baseball players--you were talking about trying to hit a 94+ mph fastball with a 4 inch thick bat...unless any of you played in college, semi-pro or pro, you don't really have room to talk because you've probably never hit a ball going that fast either.

Baseball requires a variety of different skills. Soccer primarily involves footwork; baseball requires foot speed, hand-eye coordination (for hitting and catching), and throwing accuracy. While soccer requires strong skills on one area, baseball requires a wider variety of skills in different areas.

Baseball by far, put a soccer player at the plate and see if he can hit a 97MPH fastball, i guarantee u could put a baseball player on a soccer field and he could kick a ball around for a while.

baseball....the only special talent you need for soccer is acting and a degree in ankle grabbing.
watching the world cup has renewed my appreciation for every pitch, foul ball and diving catch that baseball has to offer every single game.

baseball. in baseball, you actually have to think. if you are a shortstop, and there is a runner at 2nd and 3rd, and the ball is hit to you, you have to know what to do with the ball. It involves brains, as well as skill and talent.
