My advice to ex-offenders who land a job in the process you are describing, is to go to the employer after you have worked there for awhile, and explain the circumstances. Explain that you were honest, but you really like your job and want to make a career out of it...and, out of respect for her/him, you want to offer some detail to more fully explain the answer you offered. Same thing if it comes up in the interview. (Although I don't know why it would if you answered no on the app.)
