I rate the iPod 30GB video player a 7 and the Creative Zen Vision M an 8.

If you want video, you might consider the Creative Zen Vision M instead.

People on Yahoo Answers ask if it is normal to use up the battery on the 30GB player after playing only a few music videos. I just flew cross country with my ZVM and watched over 2 1/2 hours of video and still had plent of charge left. Apple rates the 30GB iPod at 2 hours of battery life for video. The ZVM has 4 hours of battery life.

There are plenty of other reasons to consider the ZVM as well including:
* better display / picture quality than Apple iPod (262,000 colors versus 65,000
* longer battery life for video
* built-in FM radio player and recorder
* works with subscription music services such as Yahoo Music Unlimited To Go, Rhapsody To Go, and Napster To Go that let you rent and download to your player an unlimited numbers of songs for as little as $10 a month
* lower prices for song purchases than iTunes: 79cents, 88cents, and 99cents versus 99cents on iTunes

Both players could play more video formats without conversion. Both players could have user replaceable batteries so that you could carry a spare with you on long trips.
Apple would get an 8 or a 9 if they provided subscription music capabilities and alternative sources for lower priced music downloads.

I'd give it a 7 as I have one but it is a real pain in the *** as I do not have the installation cd and the usb cable. They are really hard to find. The ipod is not like an mp3 player, as you can plug an mp3 player right in and it will work without you having to install the drivers.
