The best "so far" this year has been B.J. Ryan but just by a razor thin margin over Jonathan Papelbon, both are slightly ahead of Mariano Rivera and Trevor Hoffman. All 4 are having great years, so far...
Player - ERA - IP - Hits - HR - BB -HBP - K - SV - SVO
Ryan - .84 - 42.2 - 21 - 0 - 9 - 1 - 54 - 24 - 25
Papelbon .59- 46.0- 25 - 2 - 8 - 0 - 47 - 26 - 29
Rivera 1.76 - 46.0- 34 - 0 - 8 - 2 - 35 - 19 - 21
Hoffman 1.03- 35.0 -26 - 1 - 6 -0 - 27 - 24 - 25

Yes it is Rivera. Papaelbon is good but the reason his stats are better is because he team is better that means he gets more chances for saves The Yankees suck. but Rivera has always been good. If the Yankees starting pitchers were good enough to get to Rivera most games he could even win a Cy Young award, he is that good.

What about Bobby Jenks. He leads the league in saves and performed greatly in the world series and post season as a rookie. Might not have the best overall numbers but hes also only got 1 blown save. He throws 100 mph fastballs.

tough one, i think Rivera and Wagner are the best in todays game. But Paplebon is going to take that spot if he doesnt turn into a starter.
