I have been in the sun allot this summer and I don't want to be tan. How can I lighten my skin without sugary, makeup, or drastic chemicals? and I have to be in the sun for school and stuff.

I am refreshed to learn that not EVERYONE wants to be tan. Tanning has become a wide spread fad. Fashion, for one thing, changes like the weather; so, I feel that we should conform to popular style less, and rely on our values more.

Health is FAR more important than the hue of your skin tone. In order to need less of your skin's natural protection against UV rays, hense an increase in release of pigment into the skin, use sun screen with the highest possilbe level of SPF. This will help to keep your skin tone as light as possible.

Perhaps it is possible to lighten skin as hair is lightened, with chemicals. But that would not be safe; it could lead to severely damaged, irritated skin.

I have heard of using lemon juice diluted with water on the face to help fade acne marks. The acid in lemon juice makes skin itch and burn, I know, but I do not know if it causes long-term damage.

Be responsible, and stay safe. Use sun screen, hats, and protective clothing to keep your skin healthy. Finally, practice feeling good about how you manage to keep yourself healthy and set a wise example for others rather than rely on skin tone to help you feel confident about yourself.

Wear 75+ sunscreen even if you aren't in the sun all day. Lemon is a natural lightener so you could try coating your skin with lemon juice and let sit for 10 minutes then wash it off. You could try this every day, but it depends how much melanin is in your skin- you may not be meant to have light skin no matter how much you stay out of the sun and use creams, lemon, etc. Many people who are very pale hate being pale because it looks sickley, why would you want to have very light skin? You should be lucky that you can catch sun in your skin and tan, many people can't. Plus, "sunkissed" skin is in.

You can't lighten your skin. If you didn't want it dark - why were you in the sun 'a lot'? You'd like to lighten your skin, but you have to be in the sun for school and stuff? What is your point here?

Fade creams help fade dark spots on your skin, like from acne scars or sun damage. I dont think skin lightening and fade creams are the same thing, but the best cream for skin discoloration is this stuff from Oil of Olay, its in a tube and I think its like spot treatment or something-that stuff works!

Why would you wanna be lighter? But I actually can understand, it's like pale is the new tan. Try the sheisedo white system or baking soda, but pale and tan people RULE!

wear sunscreen all the time and hats that cover your face and your tan will start to fade on its own, probably about the time that you'll decide you want to be tan again
