She wants a baby and says its been enough time for us to be a couple and establish a marriage, home, etc.

She wants to get pregnant in the next few months and when the baby is born we will be together for 6 years.

I was kind of dragging my feet because I was worried about finances, but now our house is paid off and I agreed to start trying because I would like to be a father. It just seems like the years have flown by being with her!

Do you think she is right?

Stop dragging your feet. Obviously you don't have anymore excuses so just do it. I agree with her. 5 years is long enough.

The time is never really right, you could always find a reason to put off becoming parents. It is a big life changing decision but it most likely will be the best thing that ever happened to you. To think about becoming a parent is very scary, I was 22yr old when i found out i was going to be a mother i thought I wasn't ready but we never are, it is the unknown that scares us the most. Talk with your wife and think of the pro's and con's with having a child at this time in your life then decide is the time right?
Just remember you are getting older and it becomes alot more risky for women in their 30's to have healthy children. Talk with your doctor. Good Luck. Being a parent is the best job i have ever had. Love *Gracie

I would say that it is time, but that is truly up to you. If there are things you would like to accomplish first (a vacation, or schooling) then I would wait till after you get those out of the way. Babies make things like that very difficult, and you don't want to have regrets later on in life. You wife should understand that. After all, if she's waited this long a bit longer should be okay. Also, keep in mind, that "trying" doesn't mean instant baby, for everyone. My hubby and I have been actively "trying" for over a year now. So, you might not want to wait too long, because it could take awhile. I wish we han't waited so long now.

If you both agreed to have children prior to becoming married, you should be able to agree/compromise on the timing. If you are looking for the perfect time, well.......you can always find an excuse why now is NOT the perfect time. I think sometimes you just have to dive in and trust all things will work out in the end, even with the challenges. By the way, my wife and I were married 5 years before our first (and only) child. For what it's worth, we think it was great timing. We had a chance to travel and spend time together before truly getting "bogged" down. We wouldn't change a thing.

If you aren't already married, insist on getting married before getting her pregnant. That'll buy you a little more time. She is pretty much right though, you don't want to wait until you're too old. Think about how old you'll be when your kids are finishing high school. Exactly, waiting too long is just as insane as having one when you're a teenager.

About the finances and the headaches that come with parenthood. Dude, it is never a good time... never. So soon is as good as later.

Its not a question of who is right but a question of are you ready .It seems to me that maybe u are just not ready and if that is the case then no you shouldnt help bring a child into the world but if you are and just scared like any normal person would be well hun you will never know until you do. Babys are scary little creatures but when they r in your arms the world changes and so do you and nothing will ever come between you and your child love them protect them and gracefuly watch them grow and most of all enjoy them.

Do you really want kids or does she?

I love my kids. They're great.

Just remember when the baby is a couple months old and you're still dealing with them up in the middle of the night and your wife is like living with Jekyll and Hyde, you made the right decision.

Kids are a blessing the hormones and the sleep deprivation are the burdens.

You don't want to waite till you are to old. You enjoy them better when you are young. But make sure that you are not struggling in the finances, cause that could be a problem. And you want the baby to be born in an enviroment of peace and joy not frustration.

Yes, I do think she's right, BUT if you can't get your head wrapped around the idea of being a father, then you need to take the time & consider that before you try to conceive. Yes, time flies, which is why she wants to try for a baby now. So don't take too much time getting used to the idea of someone calling you "Daddy." :o)

The best dad in the world is the man that wonders if he can be a good one. You can be. A family is work and a wonderful thing. Yes, it is scary. If you love eachother you can be great parents too. You will also become even closer to her...when your wife is the mother of your precious baby. You'll fall in love again...Enjoy the ride!

I think you two have a lot to talk about. Keep in mind that having a baby is a huge commitment. BTW, there is never a "right" time to have a baby financially. There will always be some bill or another to pay. Follow your heart.
