one of the simplest solutions to preventing blocked drains is one of those cheap strainers that you place over the drain hole, and never pour fat, or oil of any kind down the drain.
You can regularly run hot water down the drain, and I often use bicarbonate of soda by sprinkling it down the drain and leaving it a while then pour boiling water down the drain.
The bi carb deals with any odours in the drain as well as keeping it clear.

Kitchens - usually fat - pour boiling water down the drain. Probably shouldn't do to a disposal. Bathroom - usually hair - get a drain brush from Ace (looks like a heavy-duty pipecleaner w/a plastic handle) to fish out the hair.

I have used this for years, and it's never let me down.
An ol' timer once told me to always rinse all your used coffee grounds down your drain, and the coffee will scrub the build up off the inside of the pipes
But never dump grease down the drain.
Good Luck.

nothing, drains are going to clog. Just unstop them when they do.
