You might have one since you live near the ocean.

How old are you? I was 4 when Hurricane Hugo hit. I actually remember it. Big baby boom 9 months after too... ;) I remember Andrew too. There are many others, but I've slept through almost all of them in my lifetime & I've lived in eastern NC all my life. We thankfully didn't get any big hurricanes last year. I wouldn't want another Katrina up here. Are you asking because you want to get out of school? You're better off hoping for a snow storm. Those are safer, despite all the Yankees who don't understand Southern "snow" and how to drive in it. But with global warming, I'm sure we'll see some hurricanes soon enough. NC's butt is sticking out in the ocean, and the Outer Banks always get hit with storms that go up that way (yes, we ARE that close to the ocean, to the genius who posted earlier). By the way, have you heard about the tropical storm off the coast right now? It won't hit land supposedly, but if you're waiting for some action in the Atlantic, there you go.

"ever" is a really long time. I would suspect that, at some point, before the sun expands and fries the earth, the climactic conditions will be present to cause a hurricane that far north.

Heck, with the current state of global warming, it may be a common occurence over the next century or two.

No hurricane caused such damage in NC as Hugo in 1989, but who knows what the future holds.

You are on the East Coast, hurricanes come in and near NC's coastline. It depends on how close you are to the coast.

It's possible, the closser inland the less likely you will get thrashed. but the weather is funny, and given the shift in the earth's axis due to katrina there's no guidelines to follow.

I've been here 13 years and been through several, it depends on the wind.
