ive created a work group at home i ran the wizard on both pcs
from the other pc i can ping mine by name and IP from mine i cannot do either one to the other pc
in my computers my network places i can see my shared docs not the other pcs
if i go to view work group computers i can see the other computer
from my comuter
when im on the other computer i cannot see any shared folders if i go to view workgroup computers it hangs and then gives the error this workgroup is not accessible you may not have permission to use this network resource see your admin
ive checked the spelling of the workgroup name on both computers
i even shared out the c:
i tried to \\computername\c$ and it says that the network path is invalid
samething if i try \\computername
im at a loss

logged in as admin on both pcs
both have unique IP addresses
everything is shared that should be

I've encountered this problem before. I felt the same way as you. trust me bro, its in the firewall..

if you're running winxp, turn off both PCs windows built in firewall. simple as that..
provided you are both in the same workgroup name, you should see each other's shared folders

Do you have the smae user names on both PCs? My home network insists that I log on before granting me access.

Try creating the same user name and password on both PCs and see if that breaks the dam..

make sure both have diff ip addresses in the same network class and did you share on both pc's? alos log in as admin on both pc's

Check weather u are using TCP/IP protocol on boththe machine and using file and printer sharing option for Microsoft

Is one of the macines running Windows XP? If so, disable the firewall.

can you ping your computer by ip from the other one.
