To time contractions, use a clock with a second hand. Start timing from the beginning of one contraction until the beginning of the next. You should also be aware of how long each contraction is lasting. For instance, the other night I was having mild contractions that lasted two minutes in length and were approximately six minutes apart. They weren't terribly painful and I could still walk and talk through them so it was nothing to get too concerned over. You will feel a tightening across your stomach and a pressure down in your pelvic region.

contractions can feel different for all women as some have back labor and some dont plus how everyone describes the exact same thing is always different but 1 thing is certain as they increase in intensity there is no mistaking it the best thing to do is pay attention to your body if it feels like you have gas pains every couple of minutes that could be it if your stomach tightens with some cramping that could be it once you start to feel them u will know as for timing them go from the beginning of one to the beginning of the next and also keep track of how long they last. a watch or clock that you can track seconds on works best good luck

A contraction feels like a tightening, cramping, or frank pains in lower abdomen or over the bladder area (right above your pubic bone). You time them by counting the duration of each contraction and how many minutes they are apart.

A contraction, for me, feels like a tightening around your belly almost like someone is hugging you tightly. If you have back labor it will start from your spine and radiate to the front more like cramps. I started timing them when I noticed the feeling starting then going away.

a contraction feels like a painful period ..for me the pain started at my back...then came to my belly. you contract not only where you do when you have a period but all on your belly. since your uterus is now so big..you will feel it all over. they start out mild but get stronger and stronger. you time them by the time in between two ..but also time how long they are....

imagine having really bad gas and really bad menstrual cramps combined. that is a contraction. you time from the beginning of the first one to the beginning of the next one. same with baby's feedings.

with my wife having them. they are severe cramps that get more intense. you time by using any watch to see how far apart they are. usually when they are around ten minutes apart it time to head to the hospital, unless your water breakes than call 911 as you may not make it in time.
