It's a little byte of information the computer stores about where you've been on the Internet, presumably for faster reference back to that web page later.

A Cookie is a text file. That's it. It can be created via a Perl script, Javascript, Active Server Pages etc. A Cookie is text information that is transferred from the server to your Browser via the HTTP protocol and then stored on your hard drive. It is not an executable file, it is not some nefarious info sniffer from Techno-World, it is only a text file.
If a site uses a Cookie then everytime you visit that site, if the browser has a Cookie stored on it, it transfers that Cookie to that site. The program on the site using the Cookie then access the information and acts upon it.

It is important to understand here that a Cookie will only be transfered to the site that created it. Part of the Cookie is the domain name of the site that created it as well as the path to the program that access it. Unless the domain and path match exactly as they were set, the Cookie IS NOT TRANSFERED! There is no way for someone from one site to see the contents of the Cookie from another site. It's just mechanically not possible.

is these info. that every time you get in any website, that website installs in your pc (computer) some of them may be harmful for your pc so you should try to delete them often and also not allow some websites to even install any, here's what you can do to protect your computer...
go to the "TOOLS" icon on the top of your screen
than click on "INTERNET OPTIONS"
a little window will appear on your screen and than look for something that says "TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES"
there you'll also see "DELETE COOKIES" and click on it so all the cookies are deleted from your pc....that temporary file can get pretty full if you don't delete it and some websites won't even let you go in there because of it (they need to install more cookies) in the same little window you'll also see "DELETE FILES" you also wanna delete those (kind if same thing as cookies)

It is a text file that allows websites to store some information on your computer that it can read again when you visit pages on a site. It is used to store things like those email addresses when you check "Remember me" and used to help when you login. They can be cleared if you are concerned about what is stored.

Cookies are text files only and cannot contain viruses. You can open a cookie file in notepad if you want to see what it has in it.

Cookies are small files used by websites you visted to store your online information, ie..date time username etc...

Most websites will use it one way or another, normally harmless, but you can delete them if you are nt happy of having them.

Open Internet Explorer, click Tools, options, then delete cookies.

It'a a software that stores info, like what sites you have visited. Some sites won't even open if you do not have proper cookies installed on your PC. Hope that helps.

It is a bit of information put on your computer to identify you.

For example when you go to Yahoo & they know who you are it is because they put a "cookie" on your computer and that saves you always logging in.

The problem comes when spyware sites put a ton of cookies on your computer.
