Like others have said, it is your hard drive. The reason it has gotten that designation come from the 80's and 90's. Early computer had floppy drives. These drives were designated by letters. One floppy drive was drive A:. The second would be drive B:. As technology progress PC makers started selling computer with 3 drives. Two floppy drives designated A and B. The third was the hard drive designated C. As time moved on the necessity for the floppy drives dimished but the harddrives kept the C designation.

The designation "C:" drive dates back to when the "A:" drive was a 3.5 inch floppy and the "B:" drive was a 5.25 inch floppy. The natural progression was to name the hard drive "C:". This is the default hard drive designation for all Microsoft Operating Systems on which the operating system is placed.

Most often, the C drive is your primary (master) hard drive disk in your computer. Commonly has Windows installed to it.

That is your hard drive inside your puter. This is where everything is stored inside.
It is diffrentiated from your floppy drive, which is usually "a" drive, and your CD rom drive, as "d", or sometimes a diff. letter in some puters.
