This is not meant to be an offensive question, I have gay friends and a gay brother.
However, most people know of the "gay scene", the guys in urban areas who do meth and other drugs, and have vast amounts of unprotected sex, sometimes with multiple partners. The HIV/AIDS rates among these men is considerably higher than the rest of the gay population. HIV can spread like wildfire among gay men who choose not to wear protection. The "scene" is destructive because many people once they're infected choose not to tell their partners, and continue to spread the virus.
The gay lifestyle is not dangerous, no more than any other lifestyle. But the fact of the matter is, promiscuous gay men have way higher rates of HIV than promiscuous straight people. It's not a judgment thing, its just how it is and it needs to be stopped before someone you or I care about becomes a victim.

panacea, i'm sure drug use and aids has risen among EVERYONE since ww2... right? it wasn't even around, and being gay was ILLEGAL in many cases, so hence new generations of gays, free ones!
but letting glbt people get married is a great idea!
i DO know that glbt people do have a higher rate of smoking than straights, drugs, i don't know. suicide rates are also high. these are things people do when they feel depressed, unaccepted, and deemed a criminal by society. you get treated like crap, you believe you are crap, so why not go down in flames?
giving gays and lesbians the right to marry, the right to have children, the right to be themselves without feeling that they are criminals or monsters, would help the community and the "scene" a lot. meanwhile, many communities have organizations commited to educating young gay men and women about drugs and safe sex. why not find one and donate some time or money?

Well, one of the things that should be done is to lessen the amount of persecution that gay people are subjected to by some homophobic, hate-spewing 'christians.' Perhaps then fewer gay people would find the need to escape into substance abuse.
Education is the best tool. Here in my city there are specific meetings and info sessions about crystal. I see lots of articles about how people who are high on drugs are much, much less likely to protect themselves during sex.
Poor self-esteem can be a vicious circle as well - some people only feel good about themselves when high. Counseling can help in these cases.
I know I haven't given you many concrete steps that can be taken. But every case is different, and there are people on which nothing will work until they hit rock bottom.
I just remind everyone who will listen that it is ultimately their responsibility to protect themself against STDs - no matter what their sex partner says. If everyone followed this rule, nothing would get spread.

The gay lifestyle most certainly IS dangerous and completely abnormal. Nothing will change until gays face this fact.
Prior to WW2, gays did not act like this. They have changed in a highly destructive manner. And the rest of society enabling them is not a good thing.
A good starting point is for society to distinguish between being gay and the gay lifestyle. Accept the former and harshly criticize the latter. Gays need to be pressured into acting like normal, decent people. Find a nice man. Settle down in a monogamous love relationship. Perhaps get married. That sort of thing.

You are so wrong on so many different levels.
See the links below for further information.
May I suggest you begin with admitting you are biased and stop hiding under a thinly veiled attempt at being someone you are not.
Being Gay is not a lifeSTYLE; it is a life.
Best Wishes!
EDIT: Less than FOUR PERCENT of all HIV/AIDS cases reported were contracted through MSM (male to male sex).
"Just how it is..." is like this: The next person who contracts HIV or AIDS will be someone very much like you...if you are heterosexual and are sexually active.
For the Answer containing the dangerous mis-information that HIV can "pass through the condom": that is utter nonsense.
A condom is the safest method of protection against HIV and other STD's outside of abstinence. The virus IS NOT capable of being transmitted from one person to another with a properly applied LATEX condom used in conjunction with safer sex techniques.

Do what others have done for the last 15-20 years. Join a group like aids action committee or start your own similar group. Talk to nightclub owners and set up a table with info and condoms in the lobby. It may sound far fetched but we used to do this at a club I worked in, and while you probably aren't "teaching" anyone anything at this point, it does help to be reminded every week when you are out dancing and hooking up etc. I know for a fact they all appreciated the free condoms too. As far as the drugs go-LOOK OUT because we are about to see a meth epidemic like never before. I have first hand experience with this stuff and it is ALL BAD!! the only thing I can say about it is if you know someone who's doing it talk to them and be there for them as long as it takes to get them into treatment. It can take three times as long to overcome meth withdrawal symptoms as it would to beat the cocaine after effects. this stuff is no joke. Look out for the meth special that aired this week on A&E to get a perspective.

You are saying taht gay guys have vast amounts of unprotected sex and then you say that the gay life style is NOT dangerous. That is a contradiction.
Ok, we can not limit self destructive tendencies in gay people, no matter what we do. They must make the choice themselves. They know all about AIDS by now.
What more can be done, if they don't want to hear it?

The truth is it is one of the most dangerous of all lifestyles because of the things you just metioned.
To answer your question though I am not sure but educating them on what they are doing is just about anyone can do. If they choose to destory themselves then not realy anyone can stop them and its sad.
One more thing its a total lie when people think they cant get aids if they use a condom its simply not true. Aids can pass through a condom microscopicly so permiscuess/casual sex with anyone is whats dangerous but even more so amoungst the homosexual comunity.
