I'm starting to get the willys that i'm going to be fired. Not in on the emails around the office anymore.... most duties taken away from me.... whats happening? Am I about to be fired? Have you ever had a similar experience? Ever been fired, and if so what were the warning signs you wish you had seen so you'd have known it was coming?

There's no magic formula to tipping you off that you'll be fired, but there are some indications or warning signs that you might want to consider.

1) You were "written up" several times for the same thing. Telling you once or twice is pretty standard, but after that, it's a sign that you're just not working out and aren't good at it.

2) Changing your job to make it more unpleasant. This is becomming a more common way to get rid of employees without firing them. They make your job so miserable by giving you lots of things they know you hate, or taking away the best parts of your jobs. Why do this? Because they hope you'll become so dissatisfied that you'll quit.

3) You're being left out of the loop on things. If you normally get copied on memos and aren't anymore, that could be a sign that you won't be around or might be demoted.

4) Tipoffs from friends at work or the "rumor mill." Another co-worker may have overheard something or heard rumors that your on "thin ice," meaning you'll be outta there.

5) Constant or persistent problems with your performance or interaction with others, especially the boss. Not doing good work and getting along with others in the workplace are the ultimate grounds for dismissal. Why? Because who wants to keep someone who regularly doesn't good work and/or can't work well with others in the office.

My suggestion, if you suspect that you'll be fired, I would definitely start sending out resumes / "feelers" to see if you can find something else. If you find another job before you get fired, you can always pit one off the other. Maybe you were wrong and can get a raise or a better work environment out of it.

But if they want you out, then at least you'll have another job to go to. The worst of course would be that they do fire you without your having another job. Depending on the reason for the firing, it may or may not hurt your chances of other employment.

For example, if they fire you for insubordination, which means not following policies or procedures, then that's a "biggie!"

What have your reviews been like? How have you been getting along with your boss? Co-workers? Has your company changed hands? Do you have a new boss? if you are in a union you should talk to your steward. If you aren't in a union then maybe you should ask someone in your office. If your don't feel there is someone you could talk with, then I would polish up the resume.

On the other hand: the duties you have left - have they recently expanded to a point where you would need to have more time to focus on them?

Good Luck, you will have opportunity whichever way it goes.

Yes, a huge sign is if you are not in the office emails anymore. If duties are being taken away and not replaced with new ones, then yes...expect to be looking for a new job soon.

As a manager, I look at the persons attendance, saw how much time they spent on personal calls, checked to see if their work flow was up to par. Or your manager might constantly be on you for any little thing, like you didn't tie your shoes today? And you would probably get performance reviews montly or weekly. Basically if your boss is on your a** you know something is up. Otherwise I would ask what is going on, why are they taking your work away.

If you don't speak up you will be fired!!!!!!!!!

Reassignment of duties is the number one sign that you'll be relocated... to your home. Start polishing the resume and confront your supervisor. If you are going to be axed, perhaps he'll be willing to give you a letter of recommendation for your next job if you leave by your own volition. Good luck.

You should be copied even though you'r about to be fired, its just impolite to abandon you! If your manager avoids eye contact then thats definately a sign...just look carefully...take care and its not the end of the world..you can always re apply..no worries.

It insects me that she stated "no longer today" and under no circumstances purely "no." Is it absolutely everyone else's duty to brew the espresso? are you able to are hunting for some small proper shortcuts contained in the espresso prep to p.c. the approach? i'd ask to talk including her on my own for a jiffy even as it is quiet at artwork. i'd ask her if she's happy with your artwork in most circumstances and what else (specially) may she like you to do or to modify or to augment. good success! i doesn't seek for yet another interest purely yet.

When I got fired, it came as a true surprise. They called me into HR at the end of the day and BAM...no more job.
