That's simple. They aren't.
Walking is *normal* for human beings. All babies learn to walk at different ages, but average is 9-17 months (see sources section below). A baby who walks early isn't going to damage himself in any way...nor is a baby who walks late. No baby will be average on every measure--it's just impossible!!
The only way that walking early could *possibly* harm a baby would be if parents try to force a child who is not ready and not interested in standing to do it...and that could happen as easily at age 16 months as 8!

Your child having deformed legs bc he walks soon is an old wives tells. Its not true. My son started walking at 9 1/2 months and his legs are just fine. He walks just like we do no more toddling around. No worries about an deformities. Most boys start walking between 12-18 months. So if he's not cruising yet he will. He'll walk when he's ready. Good luck!

Walking early will not deform the babies legs. Usually they can't walk before 12 months because the legs aren't developed well enough so if he is doing it anyway he may look deformed but he isn't.

Ask your pediatrician...and he/she will laugh. If his legs are deformed it's not due to walking early something else is going on. If you are concerned speak to his doctor to see what he thinks but leave out the line about walking early causing it. My brother walked at 8 months and had no problems.

dont worry about his legs being deformed...his legs are not going to become deformed because he walked early or late or right on time.
Babies develope their muscle tone from the head down. A child cannot cannot cannot walk until they have the proper muscle tone developement in their legs and hips. Some children develope that muscle tone earlier and some later.

My two older sons walked at age 10 months. My sister walked at 9 months. None of them have deformed legs. I have heard people say that before, but I wonder if they are just jealous because their babies weren't as advanced as our 'early' walkers!
LOL If you are really concerned, make sure you ask your pediatrician, that is what they are there for. :)

no...those are all old wives tales about babies becoming bow-legged because they start standing or walking to early.
