Here's what you do: Start>Control Panel>double click system and it will tell you right on the bottom what your processor speed is.

you don't need a software. you can right-click on mycomputer(not a shortcut) then properties, it shows clockspeed. though, some comps don't show the clockspeed speed. you need to find out the number of pipelines or stages. an intel has about 20 pipelines and an amd has about 10-12. frontside bus is also important. L2 cache is very important. so many thing impact the proscessor speed. you should do tests, like run doom 3 and find the frames per second. so graphically intense games.

You can check your processors speed by going to Control Panel-System and under hardware devices click the CPU and it will tell you the name of your processor as well as its speed.
