Seriously, this is a valid sociological question. I have never ever ever ever seen a sexy, feminine, slim, beautiful femimist. Is this title just reserved for the women untouchables? The women who were rejected by men so many times that they turn into man-haters? I also observed that many of them are lesbian. There are some interesting psychological facets that need to be looked at here.

Rush Limbaugh says:

"Feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream. Women were doing quite well in this country before feminism came along."

So. I'm a feminist (though not in the messed up way that some North Americans manage). I'm pretty damn hot, slim and in fabulous shape, or so my boyfriends and all the idiots who whistle at me on the streets seem to think. I tend to reject men more than they reject me, because for the most part they are boring.
I like men, but I find that most of them don't live up to their potential and are weak, insecure and incapable of dealing with an intelligent woman on any level. If I really enjoy sex, they find that threatening. They are also threatened by my opinions, my thinking, any intelligence I have, and the fact that can box, among many other things.
It's an interesting question. I'd like to think about the psychological facets, too. Do you think I am a freak of nature (the answer here is no), or are men also incapable of having a relationship with a true equal? Apparently, you've met the wrong feminists. Also, to be fair, most feminists are fairly irritated with other women, so it's really not all about men.

YES... AND... at the same time NO

Why? Because feminism is badly defined.

There is REAL feminism... the one that is about EMPOWERING women and liberating their femininity... this kind DOES have very attractive women, who also happen to be very intelligent

THEN... there is also RADICAL feminism... which is the opposite and is about getting women to act more like men, its about hating men... and this type is almost exclusively filled with ugly women.

Unfortunately the second type (even though they're in the minority)... have gotten to be synonymous with "feminish" since they're alot louder. ALOT louder. So sometimes it *seems* like all feminism is radical feminism.

And another interesting fact is that alot of attractive (but not intelligent) women will say "oh i'm a feminist"... when they don't even know what the word means or what feminism is about.

The true feminists tend to be BOTH beatifull AND smart.

Yeeeeeeeeah I've noticed the whole lesbian feminist thing... that's reallly weird. Susan B. Anthony wasn't too pretty, either. I mean, I am completely supportive of all women's rights and capabilities and such, and I guess that I act a bit too feminist sometimes, but I wouldn't start my own rally or anything. I think that unattractive women with strong beliefs in feminism get sick of being rejected while the pretty women with strong beliefs in feminism get accepted because they're pretty, so they just forget the guys, go for other feminist women, and support these strong beliefs with their woman by their side. It's kinda gross if it works that way, actually... hmmm. By the way, I'm not the chica in my pic, but I'm NOT unattractive at all, NOOOOOOT lesbian or bi at all, and I can usually get away with my ideas of feminism. I think it's just the really radical feminists that get rejected. Kinda sad, I guess.

you may not be looking around enough. there used to be t-shirts out there that said, "this is what a feminist looks like" printed just to combat the stereotype you're asking about. i have seen some HOT women in those t-shirts. i have also seen some hot women who i know are feminists, but don't go around teaching or taking women's studies classes because they have other areas of expertise.

feminists and lesbians are not necessarily man-haters. believe me, i'm a lesbian and i have just as many guy friends as girl friends. (actually, for quite a while in its history, feminist groups shut out lesbians for fear that a gay presence would give them a "bad rap." so lesbians had to go there own way for many years.)

i totally understand your question... i just challenge you to meet a great amount of the group before you make a generalization. say, 500 feminists? you aren't afraid of meeting 500 women, are you?

i know a few really, REALLY attractive feminists. you must be a rush limbaugh fan, because he was quoted as saying "Feminism was established so that unattractive women could have easier access to the mainstream."

but i CAN see your point, too. i think it's a stereotype perpetuated by mass media, but also, maybe, there's a percentage of those women that are 'man haters' and lesbians. maybe they're the 'visible' face on feminism. but look at how women are viewed in america. if they're very attractive they get treated differently (mostly for their benefit) and maybe aren't as respected for their talents. an 'unattractive' woman can be looked at and not be imagined as a sex object and is only taken seriously for her talents. as long as we all keep acting this way it'll never change.

You might be thinking of the type of super-feminist who does not conform to societal standards of beauty, which is why you would not think they were attractive. Also, very radical feminists assert that male/female intercourse is a form of rape because of the pain women experience (please remember, this is a facet of radical feminism that doesn't apply to everyone).

Actually, anyone who thinks women should vote, be educated, work after marriage and childbirth, and have legal standing is a feminist. The word "feminist" has very negative connotations, but really applies to many people, so you may know so attractive "feminists" without realizing it.

Ugly is in the eye of the beholder. Gloria Steinham is a feminist and she used to work at the Playboy club. You sound like you have been brained washed by the male gender and society in general into believing that any woman who is not interested in you, or does not fit your stereo type of what a female should be means she is a lesbian and a man hater. Read more feminist literature and maybe you might learn more about what you seek.

If you're actually interested in the answer then I suggest you take a gender studies course, you'll discover that most of the statments you've just made are based off of stereotypes and not true at all.

The term feminist has a stigma attatched to it nowadays, particularly thanks to stereotypes just like 'feminists are ugly/lesbians/manhaters' - it has such a stigma that many women are reluctant to identify themselves as feminists, even if they hold the exact same ideals as the feminist movement (which is really only one thing: equality for women, and trust me it hasn't happend yet).
this leads to two consequences:
1) Women who speak out for equal rights that happen to be lesbian/ugly or whatever are labelled (negatively) as feminist-B****es by their opponents and
2) Women who are lesbian or ugly often have less reason NOT to speak out b/c it's generally assumed they're feminists.

you see the irony?
If you were to actually visit a feminist group, or look at a meeting, you would, I'm sure, see quite a few feminine, slim, and beautiful women who happen to be feminists.

Well I'd say you have a really bad case here. First you think feminists are ugully. Then you consider them happily gay, then you ask the world what they think, then you say they are rejected by men and are men haters.

We love our feminist friends, and they are just groovy.
This is true to the point where you only see the ones you would like to change. To us those are like the men who are all about men only; men sports, men hang time, men posse, men.

We like hippie feminists, women dating women feminists, earth child feminists, culturally rich feminists, small framed glasses/ spikey haired feminists and the like.
We like them to have their heads on track on too, so...
Like I said earlier, all feminists need to be completely healed themselves or you may catch a few zany ones!
But you got to love them.

I know some hott feminists if you wanna meet them, lol. Think I'm kidding?

Bear in mind, every group has an extremist branch. You see it in religon, and you see it in politics. The media only wants to show you the extremists. Why? Cause extremism sells.
