laptop computers can be a rather tricky buy at times, I would suggest that you look out for the cheapest and yet latest desktop on the market,

the best way to do this is on what they call warehouse sale markets some of them are online.

these warehouse owners have a service where they sell laptop computers to normal customers like you and me, however with very reduced prices due to the fact that they do not have as much costs as normal shops do, such as rent and a employees etc. as you know most online shops have rather competitive prices sometimes cutting the laptop price to a half.

one such website for laptop computers is :

also, any new pc could have living house windows vista on it. vista is a source hog, and could no longer play astounding with some thing a lot less then a million GB of ram. 2 gigs may be better. The HP's are certainly good machines, and some thing contained in the 15.4" exhibit screen length isn't too extraordinarily heavy even as being good for vewing.

If you are looking for cheap and good, go for Dell. If you are looking for good and something to last you for at least 3 to 5 years without the need to upgrade or add ons, check out slate Tablet PC from Motion Computing. They are ideal for students, but a bit pricey.

Since you're using it for school, and not for gaming, maybe a Mac would be a better choice. However, if you like Windows PCs, you can probably just go to a Dell rep. and they'll guide you through the process.

If money isn't a problem, you should definitly get a Macbook and buy a Windows O/S cd. But, if money is a problem, get a good 600-700$ laptop.

Check out HP, for better prices and MUCH better support. Dell support is the worst.

Don't get a Dell, here's why: http://www.ihatedell.net

You'll be better with a HP Pavilion, Sony VAIO or Toshiba QOSMIO only {Not Satellite or Tecra!!!}
