I think it would be nice to offer to pay. If your relationship is secure there should be know problem with splitting or taking turns on the meal!

Honestly, being a guy....you want to feel like a man and make your lady think you can always pay for anything you and her may do together, but that's not right. I think that the lady should pick up the tab sometimes and not always expect her man to pay for everything, ever time you all go out. Relationships are 50/50 and that includes paying bills and dining out. The lady should pay once and a while too, cause that's a real lady.

If its a first date that the guy has asked you on, then let him pay. If you are in a committed relationship with him, then there is no reason you shouldn't take turns paying for items.
My hubby insisted on paying for everything the first year we were dating... he follows those old-fashion gentlemen manners. He also opened doors for me, and waited for me to be seated at a table before seating himself. Even when I offered to pay... he, of course, declined.
He enjoyed being the courteous boyfriend, and I was always appreciative of that... I ALWAYS told him "thank you". The most important thing was that I did not EXPECT him to pay, and I didn't USE him for his money. That would have been wrong.
As we got more serious about our relationship, things like money merged into "ours", rather than "his & hers". So it really wasn't a big deal who paid the tab.

come on y let the guy pay everything that will make him feel more in control over you the girl needs to pay sometime

It's "traditional" for the guy to pay.. but I think the girl should pay every once in awhile. Or, if it's the girl's idea to go out to eat then she should pay. The guy shouldnt have to pay for something he was, in a way, invited to.

If he is happy to pay then you should let him do so. It probably makes him feel good that he can take you out to eat. But don't ask him to pay, that is totally different.

If he is a gentlemen he should pay, but I always carry money out on a date with me just in case he's a broke bastard and I didn't know in the beginning of are relationship

The girl should offer to pay or act like she is going to pay and if the guy wants to pay then he can. I guess it all depends on who invites who. I would expect a guy to pay if he said "I would like to take you to dinner..."
