Just before I got to the end of your question I thought you were going to ask, am I being selfish by not wanting him to go to Florida. A lot of women would want the guy making more money and want him to forgo pleasure to get it. So no I don't think it's selfish at all. Its more important for you to enjoy time with him. Now if its some job he really wants bad, than don't be mad at him for staying, maybe you can go with a girlfriend or your dad since he paid for it. Still I don't think your feeling stem from selfishness, just a little dissapointment and that would be understandable.

I would ask this BF if he could explain this situation to his employer and see if they will allow him the time Being honest and upfront with an employer is the best. If they are flexible this may be the best decision for him as far as the employment with this new company if they do not want to extend him this time that may not be employee friendly. You should not be Mad what if he won a trip to Florida most expenses paid and you were in the same position, Hmmm

No, being mad is a normal response. Life is like that, you have a chance to relax and have fun, but that damn pain in the neck thing called commitment and responsibility steps in and takes the fun out of it. You just have to say maybe next time. There will come a time when you yourself will be involved in a crossroads decision and someone elses plans will get botched. But, like my gunny Sargent always told me, it's a puppy kicking world. Can you possibly change the date of the Florida trip? there is always a compromise. Talk it over with your BF and come to a agreeable decision. Good Luck! (Hope that actually helped)

Sorry, but yes, you are being selfish. His future is far more important than any trip. You should be proud to have a man who is thinking past fun and thinking of ways to support himself(and maybe you someday). If he can't go, then invite a good friend to go and have some fun. Tell your boyfriend that you are proud of him for making such a mature decision and that you are looking forward to a time when you can take a vacation together.

If it is a GREAT job than yes. Let him succeed if he can girl because if you plan on being with him for awhile you want him to do good. May be you guys will have children one day and they are expensive. If it is a really crappy job it is still a little selfish but I would feel the same.

Mad at your boyfriend. I can understand your frustration, but this is life and things come up. I would hope, at the least, he would ask his employer for off. He can explain the circumstance to his employer, but also let them know he doesn't want it to affect his employment. It affecting his employment is what he is afraid of and you really can't be mad. He wants to turn his employment into a permanent situation and in turn is looking out for his best interest. Have you considered how you would feel if the tables were turned. Confused indeed.

yes you are being selfish. you go see your dad and have a wonderful time. your trip is only for a short time but your boyfriends job is for a long time. put yourself in his position and what would you do. i know it is upsetting & no one likes plans changed but i'm sure you will understand now. he's still going to be there when you come home.

You are entitled to be upset of course... when you're looking foward to something then it can be very dissapointing to have to cancel at the last minute. However, you have to understand your boyfriends situation, this job could be very important so you also need to think of what's best =o)
