Every brand/model is different... Some have software switches, some hardware (physical)...

You will actually have to READ the instruction manual!

New HP's have a button on the keyboard that will turn it on and off. Otherwise go to Start\Settings\Network Connections and click on the Wireless LAN connection. That will enable it.

may be a wireless on/off switch on left side of laptop, towards the front (usually has a picture of a radio tower), some times done by key combination FN + F2.(usally has picture of radio tower)

my laptop has a slide button thing thas says off and on and a wireless symbol on it i just turn it to one and bingo im wireless
