Very few movies manage to make the sequel better than the origianl. But I would have to say that Terminator 2 was better than the 1st, however the 3rd was awful. The Lord of the Rings trilogy just gradually got better. And in my opinion the 2nd Star Wars trilogy is better than the 1st. Some movies have sequels that are just as good as the 1st. Such as The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Identity are equal in my opinion.

Born Losers was the first Billy Jack film in 1967.
Billy Jack was the sequel in 1971. I felt that the sequel was better.

Star Trek 2 the wrath of khan. The road warrior,(was a sequel to mad max),I agree with the previous answer of the godfather sequels.

Here's a few from my own subjective taste:
Godfather II: Pacino + DeNiro > Pacino
Empire Strikes Back: Billy D is essential.
Rocky II: He looses in the first one.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: True, its the third in a trilogy, but it is still better than the other two.

I liked x-men 2 better than the first and spiderman 2 better. Heck Superman 2 I liked better. And Star Trek 2:Wrath of Khan
I might say kill bill 2 but I count it as one whole flick.
