If she's not a virgin, there wouldn't be a virgina to look at.

If you mean VAGINA, yes, a doctor can tell - or anyone else who knows what they're looking for. I would have trouble imagining anyone other than a nurse or doctor getting the training and practice to know exactly what they're looking for without getting arrested for child molestation.

Apparently there's a membrane that covers the entrace to the vagina - not completely; just most of the bottom (or rear) part of the opening. If you search hard enough on some women's health sites, you'll find diagrams and pictures.

Stretching the opening can tear this bit of skin, at which point it hurts a bit, bleeds a bit and eventually whithers away.

In a lot of 3rd world countries, where being a virgin on your wedding is prized (and a woman could be killed if her relatives are shamed by the fact she's not a virgin) the small amount of blood on the sheets after the first night is the "proof". (Never heard how they tell she's not just having her period...).

However, most sex ed classes and urban legend will tell you, vigorous exercises can cause the membrane to tear. It's been blamed on bicycle riding, horse riding, tampons (not likely!), doing the splits in gymnastics, accidents, foreign insertions (the old "masturbating with a hirbrush handle" joke), and (I heard from someone I know) gynecological examinations if the doctor is stupid, clumsy, and/or doesn't think you're still a virgin.

So modern western society girls tend to not necessarily have anything intact there to see sometimes.

Yes, if you are a gynecologist and are giving an exam Otherwise no. Every woman's vagina looks different. There is absolutely no way to tell, and if anyone tell you there is a way to tell, then they are lying. Also, not all woman bleed they're first time having sex. A lot of girls that dance, play sports, gymnastics, anything athletic have already ripped that part in they're vagina that causes them to bleed. I know this is a little more that you asked for, but the answer was on the same lines as your question so I thought It might help anyways. Have a nice night!

First of all, i presume your definition of a virgin is someone who has not have sexual intercourse before.

Secondly, i think you have to differentiate between an intact hymen and a virgin.

A woman who has sexual intercourse before may still have intact hymen.

on the other hand, a woman who has never have sexual intercourse before may not have an intact hymen due to various reasons such as injury, accidental tearing of the hymen during masturbation or use of tampon etc etc.

So the answer is no, you cannot tell if a woman is a virgin or not just by looking at her vagina or hymen.

Sometimes it can be determined by a doctor. If the hymen is still intact, then it is unlikely the woman ever had intercourse. However, not all women have a hymen.

If you are asking if a layperson can tell just by looking? Nope.

No you Cannot - but that doesn't stop the misconception that the absence of a hymen indicates non-virginity... A girl can lose her hymen riding a horse or bike - using a tampon...

A doctor can tell if a woman has had sexual intercourse recently - but most laypeople can't tell one way or another...

why don't you just believe her, a virgin has a hymen covering the opening normally but some virgins is hard to tell because it is stretched out for other reasons
