Hi,
I am back from Ghana since just a week.
I suggest you to see Accra that will probabily be your landing point. When there do not miss as first impact the market area (Makola,Tudu,Okaishie),the Christianborg or Osu Castle, the Theater, downtown,DuBois Museum and old Harbour. To relax yourself the famous Labadi beach.
Spend your nights visiting the plenty of night clubs and bar specially Macumba Club, the so called Circle Area, and the dark and cosy bars in Adabraka secondary roads.
Move by bus to former Ashanti kingdom:visit Kumasi. As first go to the markets (Kejetia and Central).Your sightseeing will include:Fort Kumasi,Kumasi Museum,National Cultural Centre, the Okomfo Anokye Sword and the Mahniya Palace. To escape the city go to the nearby lake Bosumtwi wich is a singular example of impact lake.
Take your bus to coast again and reach Secondi.
From there travel in direction of Accra stopping at every cities where a castle is:El Mina,Cape coast,Sekondi,Takoradi,Shama. All this castles on the coast will remind you the sad age of slavery and deportation.
If you still have time do not miss Agosombo, departure spot to the Voltic Lake, the largest manmade in the world, where you can have your cruise by boat.
For nature I suggest you a couple of parks as Egyambra Crocodile Sanctuary ,located 55km west of Takoradi and Mole wich is the largest in Ghana.Included there is also the so called Ghana's Mecca, the holy city for muslims which is called Larabanga.

I'm excited for you--what a wonderful experience!
For practical info and facts, check out these websites:

For tourism information, advice, and suggestions, I strongly recommend this site:
http://www.lonelyplanet.com/worldguide/destinations/africa/ghana/
Lonely Planet says "If an award were given for the country with the friendliest people in West Africa, Ghana would be a strong contender. Spend a few hours in the breezy capital at Accra, and you'll swear the wind and waves off the Gulf of Guinea have infused the land and people alike with equatorial warmth."
I'm sure you're bound for a great time! Happy Travels!
