How many times did you move back home after you moved out? What is the best thing a parent can do when their adult children cannot make it on their own and keep coming back home with their kids. Adult daughter refuses to get a job. Wants to be a stay at home mom.

I was 18 and no, did not return there to live. I did have to depend on friends for a short time after a separation though. The only thing you can do is tell her you can not or will not support her. Tell her it's for her own good. If she goes too long without a job, it's going to be harder for her to get one later with no experience. We ALL wanted to be stay at home moms. I'm over 40 and I couldn't do it with either of my kids. She needs a reality check - take her and her child to a shelter and then see if she wants to live with you and work too.

17......went to the Marine Corps....never went back to stay when I got out. Tell your daughter to get a job and move out! You deserve a life now.

17, for college
i moved back twice, when i gradulated and couldnt get a job, and after i got fired from the first job.
WOW, if she hasn't learned by now, i guess its kind of late...but i would set up definte rules about how long she can stay, what she has to contribute to the household, etc.
