-friend swears she hasn't been with her husband since last October
-has been taking birth control possibly missing a pill or two
-thought she had a period as late as this April
-two pregnancy tests said she wasn't pregnant, but the doctor says she is
-just felt kicking a few days ago
Something isn't adding up! Either she just got pregnant and is hiding something. Why?? I know of no reason for her to lie to ME about it...though maybe her husband she has been wanting to divorce. ....or there's something really out of the ordinary going on. Is it possible she is telling the truth? Could she really be almost full term and still THINK she had periods until April? Is it all a lie because she knows I'm religious and will give her a hard time if she was with someone else?

-I'm not trying to judge nor do I really care if I'm being lied to. I just want an explanation of how she COULD be telling the truth if that is a possiblity because it's baffling to me and I just want to understand.

I know of at least 2 people who thought they weren't pregnant because they had "periods" for quite a few months. Also, when I was young, there was a mildly retarded girl who was charged with murdering her newborn - the article mentioned that she had continued to have periods so nobody realized she was pregnant.
It happens. So does getting pregnant on the pill. I've known quite a few cases, but can't verify whether they were careful in taking the pill properly...
Every so often, there's a case of some woman who goes to the hospital with "food poisoning" and is rushed to the delivery room. They have no idea they're expecting. (Saw one on TV a few years ago - no wonder! She probably wouldn't have noticed an extra 30 pounds!)
So - it happens. If a person is sufficiently overweight, doesn't pay that much attention to their body, and is not actively looking for the symptoms, they can be surprised at 8 or 9 months.
Not sure why a pregnancy test would fail? Do they not work if the person has hormonal or other issues? October 30 to July 1 is still 8 months, so you would think kicking would be apparent well before this... I guess it all comes out in the end.

This is defiantly possible, especially if she was continuing to take her pills. Even with out the pill some women have a cycle their entire pregnancy.
Please note that a negative on a home pregnancy test is only 50% accurate where a positive is 97%. Depending on the pill she was on could affect the home tests. And she could have been in denial and not accepted a very faint line as a positive.
I worked with a woman that did not have a regular cycles and did not go to the doctor until she was six months along.
Good luck.

It's actually possible! I work in an OB/GYN and we have had several patients who had something like a period, even up to 8 months, or who were so irregular in their cycles they didn't notice anything strange. We had one gal who came in thinking she was newly pregnant, and came to find out she was near term!! She had been irregular for so long she didn't think anything of the missed periods. And as far as movement, she hadn't really put the two together. Never got morning sickness, and had no real other changes. We saw her 2 times before she delivered!!! (now for those of you who have been pregnant... imagine... going through your pregnancy without even knowing it!! Then all of a sudden... bam a baby!!)
Well.. hope that answered your question.... GOOD LUCK!

For what I know ( I am no expert ) you are more likely to get pregnant for the first 3-6 months of giving birth than any other time in your life. Everything is just ready for another pregnancy in your body, stretched out and not healed yet. If you had unprotected sex (the condom broke so it counts as unprotective) and he ejaculated inside of you, most likely you are pregnant again. I am sorry to tell you this but again, it is based on my personal experience and knowledge. Good luck

Don't push the issue. When it comes down to it, it's really none of your business. If she doesn't want to tell you about it then she has every right not to. Also, if you are religious fine but you shouldn't push your religious beliefs on anyone else esp if they have made a mistake. If your friend have been with someone else then that's her choice and for you to call her on it isn't right. It's not your place to lecture her. She is an adult and can make her own choices..if you don't agree fine but don't lecture or push religion on her.

my cousin didn't find out that she was pregnant until she was 7 months along. she was still having periods and even seeing a doctor. he told her that the only thing wrong with her was that she needed to lose weight and the funny feeling in her stomach was gas. it was actually the baby moving! i suggested to her that she take a preg test. it was positive. two months later she had a healthy baby girl. true story!

I know someone who went to 32 weeks before knowing she was pregnant. She was under a lot of stress and had irregular periods anyway but at 32 weeks she delivered a stillborn in her bathroom and swears she didn't know she was pregnant.

My step-sister *swears* that she didn't know she was pregnant until she was 5 or 6 months long... BOTH times. She says she continued to bleed semi-regularly and since she was never regular to begin with (due to an eating disorder) she didn't think anything of it.
