Wondering about what to at work?

I work in a dshroom at work. Lot's and lot's of waste food comes in there every day. The question im wondering is that should this food be put down a garbage disposal or in the garbage can. Which is more enviromentaly better?

The garbage can. It is taken to a dump and breaks down in the earth. In the garbage disposal, it goes into the sewer system with other items.

why not just eat it? That would be the best thing to do. Or take it to a homeless shelter.

too bad you don't have a farm nearby so it can be recycled
