I agree! BUT..........a few always take a stand, but unfortunately, others dont follow. We should be more like the French (it hurts to write that but!) They don't put up with any sh!t.....If the farmers/lorry drivers think they are being treated unfairly, what do they do? THEY BLOCKADE THE PORTS & BRING THE COUNTRY TO A STANDSTILL! Personally I think after Thatcher (spit, spit) smashed the unions, things have never been the same!

Well we are being bombed and threatened, We should do a bit more ourselves, like not getting so drunk of a weekend and fighting. The government wasting time on baning smoking when they should be talking the safety and wealth of the country. We can police our self on issues like smoking and drinking and big domestics and leaving your families to the care of the social. The rich could employ more people, put them to use and care instead of using them. We are greedy as a nation, maybe just care for each other a bit more. Then the government can spend time keeping threat from our door. Yes we are taxed too much, but we need to do our bit to keep it down. Like care about your fellow man

Its easy to complain about taxes but if we didnt have free health care etc then what would the poor do? I really dont think that anyone wants to be like america with all the guns and drugs and corruption they got over there.
People complain about the welfare state and so called scroungers, but i see it as an insurance policy - the more desperate someone is the more likely rthey are to try to rob u (or worse). I also believe our govt knows this too, and they try to keep the unemployed on such a level that the richer people have as much as possible, whilst the poor are not quite poor enough to wanna revolt.

There have been several revolutions in Britain over taxes, and while you got the Magna Carta out of one of them, some have been very bloody, and the last big one cost you the United States as well.

Parliament is a good legislature; maybe new MPs are needed, and if the traditional parties aren't responding, perhaps new parties as well. Labour wasn't around forever, you know.

By all means, make a stand!

Change would require more than the minority to get off their butts and vote to start with. I often hear people whinging as you say in your statement, when asked did they vote however the answer is all too often " no why ". Maybe if the government actually feared the electorate instead of laughing at us issues such as tax would be hotter potatoes for them.

are we the most taxed nation?

we have tax, council tax, national insurance, inheritance tax, our savings are taxed and all our shopping goods are taxed HEAVILY, not forgetting diesel and petrol.

i agree no tax = shiny happy people holding hands.

If we must have the NHS then a different system of funding is needed and it should be cut down to very basic health services, mostly life threatening ones. Actually I would prefer it if we all had the choice of private health care.

This isn't really limited to the British. This is the culture of Liberalism. Which is really just a form of Socialism. They feel they can better spend your money then you can. I disagree.

The sooner people of the free world realize that free medical care and other free government benefits are not really free, the better off they will be.

we are taxed so much because we get so much for "free" not very many countries give you free health care for everyone, social security and benefits, child benefit , pensions and such, if we had to pay for these services as we needed them or paid insurance towards them privately we would be a lot worse off
