It really depresses me to see all my friends and people around me (I'm 16) totally ignorant and indifferent to politics and what is going on in the world. The recent california senatorial primary only had a 28% turnout!

Yeahhhhhh!! You are proof that there is still hope, and that hope is because of young people like you!! There just seems to be so much ignorance and indifference about what is happening politically and in the world. I can understand why older people (like maybe 50+) are politically ignorant or uncaring, because they probably feel that they won't have enough time left here on earth to shape anything anyway - (they are wrong, of course)!. But how can someone our age, who will probably be here for another two thirds of a century, be ignorant and uncaring, and just allow everything to drift along, as it may?

So thanks for being like you are. I hope when you get married, you'll have a lot of babies, and teach them all to be aware and interested, just like you! (hehe).

Some people will never get involved in political activities such as voting because they feel that their actions will not invoke any real change. I felt like this when I was younger, but I changed. Most young people are indifferent to politics as they are more interested in other things. It is commendable that you are interested in current events beyond the latest Linday Lohan movie! Eventually, as your friends go to college or start working, they may begin to get more involved. However, some people never will.

I think it's great that someone your age is actually paying attention to what's happening in the country. Unfortunately there are TOO many people out there who totally ignore what's going on who are far older than you are, but alot of the polititians like it that way because if more people actually did pay attention things might be alot different in this country today. Voting is crucial in any state, local or federal elections. The people in this country have more power than they realize..but they don't use their power which is to vote. Keep paying attention...maybe your friends will catch on when they are older.

Patience. LOTS of patience. I'm not sure which is worse; those who are ignorant, and totally indifferent to politics, or the ones who are equally ignorant and go around spouting their favorite brand of propaganda to everyone. You get to deal with lots of that on here. Watching the two brands of fools compete with equally ridiculous claims would be amusing if it wasn't so totally sad.

They think about themselves too much, I know what you are taling about, I'm 14 and I always try to see what is going on in the world plus I really like politics. My friends and even my parents have no clue about any of these things. My peers merely care about learning what they learn in school, nothing more.

get use to it..unfortunately most of America doesnt follow politics at all..and many people vote on only one thing for example abortion or gun laws..they do not look at every aspect of a candidate..if they agree on this one area they vote for them..if people really looked into it, I feel you would see many of the independents actually winning instead..personally I would like to see people stop voting in the rich, after all they know nothing about working in the real world and hoping to pay bills.

Hooray for you!!!

I don't give a care as to what side of the aisle you care to call home, because all that counts right now is that you give a damn.

Keep the passion for your country and fellow citizens alive my friend. Don't give up yet, please. Your desire will affect others. And very selfishly, I want to hear the voices of the friends who are watching classmates go on to fight and perhaps die for this country. This is your generation. I want to hear your side of the story.

I'm older than you. Don't know about wiser...

I visit with my therapist, Jack Daniels, and verbally kung fu morons on this board.

It's a good time to get hip to the world. I wish I would have at your age. I waited until 18.

It's not easy but somebody has to tell the truth, the liberals aren't doing it. Their ignorance is hard to deal with, though, but I manage. What I do is a public service.

It's encouraging that you're 16 and try to be aware of political situations; keep it up.

All I can tell you is try to get your friends to go a little deeper with their politics than MTV (I'm assuming you already do.)
