The Elephant Man (1980) is a true story, based on a man, named John (Joseph) Merrick (1862-1890). Especially the scene where he gets his own dressing case, and the 'i'm not an animal' scene, makes me sometimes cry!!!!

Radio. It's soo sad when he says that his mother told him that she'd always be there for him. I cried and my dad did too.

The only movie to get me near that was Edward Scissorhands..
( .. And no, I'm not just saying that cos of your Tim Burton moniker.. )
there was also a line in "Two Towers" that got me - when Bernard Hill as King Theoden does his "no man should live to bury his son" speech.. Best acting and best lines of the whole trilogy..

Ring of Bright Water. It's pretty damn sad. The little otter thing . . . well, it's sad.

Sid & Nancy was the most depressing film I ever saw. I didn't cry, but it was a tough weekend after I saw it.
