It you think about it that way - yes. But if you live it to be happy, then you won't be overwhelmed by sadness.

I think that life has sad times, and that's OK. For a really long time my life was sad (i am talking about 7 years). we had one of our family commit suicide and then during the next 6 years 5 others died. At times like this sadness just seems to take over. it takes time to grieve and find joy again. this year, things are better, i finally feel as though it's OK to live again. and in living, i find joy. sometimes it's in a sunset i think they would love or a light rain or a blue sky. i find i am looking forward to things again and that tightness in my chest is lifting.
as i have been going through this, i have learned not to take for granted the people in my life and i am realizing how much i mean to them also.
will there be sadness in my life again? i am positive there will be but i am stronger than before and i know the secret that "this too shall pass"
wishing you many blessings of love and laughter,
lily

As a Psych student I can give you some advice on life being sad. Your question is best answered by the psych great Dr. Ellis with his "Rational Emotive Therapy" construct. Why do you think you are sad, if in fact that is what you are truely getting at? Sadness comes from "you," not life.

Life is about living not getting run over by it. Life is sad when we choose to be that way. We either choose to be happy or be sad.
It is fair to say that some of us face issues and circumstances that are beyond our ability to cope which can view life that way.
However, as long there is life and air in our lungs, we can choose to change tomorrows news. It is our attitude towards circumstances that change the way we see life. Either stay miserable and make other people feel miserable along with us or smile at life and cause others to smile.
To sum it up, it is up to individual how they see life depending on their circumstances and attitude towards life. It is our view that determine whether it is a happy life or sad life.
Cheers.

Life is full of ups and downs. Without Christ, it can be a very sad world to have to live in.

Life is what you make of it. It's very easy to make it sad. I don't ever think it's any one thing all the time though. It's a mixture of emotions and it constantly changes.

No..that is a myth that originated circa 100 BC!!
Life is beautiful and worth living - enjoy every moment that you get because there are at least 100 people in the world dying to be in your shoes

Sometimes yes. Sometimes no. But if you are ever too sad, there is something happening somewhere that would make you happy again. The same can be said for being too happy.

Mindful choices result in a "happy" life, ignorant choices result in a "sad" life.

You can't control the actions of others, but you can control yours- lead by example and not only will you gain self respect, but others will respect you as well. Life has it's sad points, but it's got plenty of great ones as well- enjoy it while you can!
