the bleeding from menstruation stops while in the water.

Every woman diver eventually finds herself with the decision of whether to dive during her menstrual period. Many women choose to dive during their periods rather than miss an exciting underwater experience, and there's no medical reason not to. Considerations include the use of tampons or sanitary napkins or both, privacy and bathroom availability at the dive site.
Some people wonder whether sharks could be attracted to a menstruating diver. There's no evidence the small amount of blood that may seep into the water was ever responsible for a shark attack. So don't worry about being eaten for lunch by sharks.

Your question IS NOT OFFENSIVE! It is a very good question actually. I am not a shark expert. Maybe menstrual blood smells different than blood from a fresh cut???? But then we have the issue of all the people who get cut or have open sores and go in the water.....heck if I know. Might be a good question for an expert.

BTW....this is the first good question I have seen for days around here.

Hmmm I go to the beach a lot…but the trick is not going in the water if you’re a woman and on your cycle…and I’ve hardly ever seen sharks in the beach unless your really really deep in somewhere maybe…actually you know what I don’t know I just hope I don’t come across any sharks and even if I do they’re more occupied in other things then to wonder if I’m having my period or not .lolz :D and I’ll just take a free steak for them the next time go as a bribe …

There's more to it than that. Most sharks don't attack ppl. Now that they put radio trackers on great white sharks, they find that many go to beaches with great breaking waves, i.e. where there are surfers, and sit in the wave break and let the breaking waves wash oxygen over their gills without them having to swim. That is, they are SLEEPING! They are often very close to surfers and they don't bother to eat the surfers because humans are not usual fare for sharks. It is actually because there are more ppl in the water and because we are overfishing the seas and taking away their natural food supplies that is causing an increase in shark attacks.

Hey Sharky, apparently you're not the only one wondering about this. There are tons of articles in Google (I only pasted one), some swearing sharks will hone right in on it, and others just as sure that it's just not going to happen. One article said that some breeds of sharks aren't attracted to the blood and "debris" in menstrual discharge. Debris? What, do some women have used orange juice cartons and discarded furniture falling out of there?

First of all most beaches have lifeguards which should warn bathers of a shark. True, tampons are also used and the cold water decrease the blood flow. How's that?

Dude, you need to do your research. Menstrating women are the number one target of sharks!

Every year, menstrating women are eaten alive by sharks. And not just in the ocean. Thosands are eaten alive right in their beds in the middle of the night as sharks take to land in the dark of night and hunt out the menstration.

And it is not just sharks. I think we all know that they attract bears as well. Just watch Anchorman - it says it there as plain as possible.

Menstrating women are being viciously hunted down by bears and sharks all over the world, but the liberal media is being paid off by PETA so we don't go and wipe sharks and bears off the planet. D&^% PETA!

Well if I knew there are likely sharks in the ocean where I go swimming, I'd stay out while I'm on my period.... and I agree with Betsy when she says cold water gives you cramps, that's true and they are quite painful.
This is not an offensive question... I hope no one gets any strange ideas...
the witch's curse on everyone who dares to report Sharky again!!!

Shark attacks are not that great in number and women tend to stay out of the water during this time.

Because when we menstruate we do not go on the water at all. that is because since the water is cold, the cold gives us cramps. Well, it gives me cramps which is abdominal pain. That is why we stay in dry places instead. That's an offensive question by the way.
