Your mother isn't dealing in reality. My friend's daughter started at the age of 9. Do you have any older female relatives? a sister? Aunt? if not then try going to your health clinic. They don't just do family planning. They will help with this stuff too.
I didn't know anyhting about it when I started. I was 10 and thye didn't teach about that stuff in school until Jr High. I thought I was dying. Good luck with it. And good for you for asking.

You are not too young. I started when I was 10. The normal age range for girls is between 10 and 15 years. Once you hit puberty, it could be anytime. You know when you start developing breasts and pubic hair, maybe some acne. If any of this has started and you feel any kind of stomach cramps, moodiness, or breast tenderness, then it is very likely that you will be starting soon. Your mother should be more understanding and help you through this tough time when your body is changing. But since she isnt, maybe there is another family member, or even a friend who can help you through it. Tell you what to do and what to expect when you actually start. I wish you the best of luck.

Hey,
You shouldn't worry. My friend started when she was 11, which was last year. I am 12 too and my mom started when she was 12 too. And I have been getting lots of discharge so I will start soon. If you get lots of discharge too, you probably will start it soon too. It really doesn't matter whether you start before or after other people. You will probably start when your mom started hers which in your case is 12 years old. There is a really good change of you starting yours. Good luck!!!!!!

Some girls start a lot earlier then they used to (because of steriods and things in foods, I think) so.. 12 isn't really that surprising. I think I was around 12 or 13. She can say you're too young, but it happens when it happens.

It's out of your control as to when you start you period. 12 is the average age - I've known girls who started as young as 10 and as late as 14 yrs old.

12 really isn't that young. Girls as young as 9 have started their periods, and the trend is continuing. Don't worry about it... it happens when it happens, and there's not much you can do about it. If you are really concerned, consider going with your mom to the gynecologist... he or she can give you more information about the subject.

12 is a normal age to start, and since that's what age your mom was when she started, yes, you will probably start soon. Don't worry - it doesn't need to be scary and you will get used to it. I hardly think about it when I have my period! Good luck.

I started at 10 and there are girls starting in the first grade. They eat a lot of chicken, and all the hormones are causing them to develop early. This is very true. A couple of girls where my sons go to school have started.
