I understand your point. It is not. I assume you are making a point about the current status of Detroit's crime and poverty in spite of the fact that the African American population in Detroit are descendants of migrant WORKERS.
So why is their current situation blamed on "whitey"? Is that what you're getting at?

I've lived most my life in Detroit and I'll give you the answer that no one else seems to know. Yes, Detroit is almost entirely black. Like others have stated, Michigan was not a slave state. Detroit was predominantly white until about the 1950's when the black population started to exceed the white. The biggest reason why Detroit's ethnicity became overwhelmingly black is because the Detroit auto makers started hiring so fast that people came from all over the country for work and these were considered high paying jobs. So the south, hard hit by economic times in conjunction with a still racist mentality going through the civil rights movement, found a job with other employed people of various color.

Detroit was on the underground railroad route but the Underground Railroad was neither "underground" nor a "railroad," but was a loose network of aid and assistance to fugitives from bondage.
There is some historic churches in the downtown area that have helped enslaved persons make clandestine escapes from slavery.
There is some northern cities like Idewild,MI that were destinations also that the state sold cheap land.
They became black destinations because you could get 10 acres of land for about 300 bucks.
The area rivaled the cotton club era when many black musicians vacationed there.

The Michigan historical museum in Lansing Michigan may be a good stop to learn more.

George Debaptiste Homesite Second Baptist Church
Finney House Barn Marker

Joe Louis Farm House
The eastside of Detroit was predominately white for many years, it's where there were some nicer homes that workers that built the Ford Rouge plant had set down roots.

first of all, i'm not Black, i'm white and Cherokee. yet i think i'll upload to this verbal substitute. i don't think of any descendants of slaves ought to ever sense ashamed. If some thing, i think they should be proud that they have been in a position to conquer the poor atrocities Slave proprietors and investors dedicated. they should be proud that they fought for and gained governmental equality. u . s . a . electorate should be remorseful for what the authorities allowed, and perchance the direct descendants from Slave investors and proprietors ought to sense somewhat ashamed... they are those who're nevertheless wealthy as a effect.... I see distinct racism and bigotry often going round, in the route of Black people, Hispanics, and Muslims, particularly. i'm ashamed of my fellow people those days.... And disgusted that the GOP helps push all this racist bigotry into the minds of the destiny. i will not wait till White is the minority... heavily, i am going to do a satisfied dance that day!
