That once happened to me. I ended up calling him to ask him out. He was very flattered but then said he prefered women. I was a bit embarrassed - but proud of myself for being able to follow my instincts and for taking a chance. Who knows what might have happened if he said yes?

Ask him some questions about the menu, the restaurant, the neighborhood. Ask him where the staff hangs out for a cocktail after the place closes.

spill something on him! i know, this sounds like i'm being sarcastic. but really, if you are slick about it, you both will apologize profusely and clean it up together. then you can say something like, "i see you here all the time, what's your name?" and "when is your day off?"
