Honesty is always a virtue- it is just that our society has become a lying, cheating, corrupt one that chooses what is easy over what is right.

A resounding YES. Honesty is a virtue. It is very possible, however, you may not be able to go as far in the world with being honest 100% of the time. But that is a sacrifice we should all make. We do NOT have to lie to keep the world turning.

Honesty is a virtue and should be prized. But today most virtues are disregarded and are given the label "old-fashioned" or "outdated". There should be good ways of telling things in an honest way without being brutal about it. More people should be educated in "common sense" which unfortunately doesn't seem to be taught in colleges and universities, or many times even in the home--which is also a changed place.

We all want to believe that honesty is a virtue but in fact, it isn't. Lot of lip service is given to it, but the way things work contradict it.

I don't think it is possible to tell the truth all the time. Besides, what's the truth. We try to quantify things to establish what is and isn't true (like statistical tables) or we look to science for the best evidence we can get. Example: x is 5'9" and weighs 150 pounds. I say x is fat, you say x is not fat. Which one of us is honest / tells the truth?

honesty is always a virtue.........but that doesn't mean its going to be a bright, sunny world all the time if everyone is honest...afterall, the truth hurts in some cases.........how many women out there would like to be told "honestly" that they are fat? or how many men would be happy if their wife says their **** is pretty small...........beat around the bush sometimes, to keep from hurting others but that doesn't mean you have to lie.....

It's not so much lying, but keeping the truth from people.
For example:

Advertisement - A really sugary product will be advertised as low sodium.

Newspaper - Reports certain truths and leaves other parts out to get the audience in an uproar.

Companies have to be that way or they lose business.

It all started with animal habit. some animals cheat and the cheaters get punished. so they have 'reciprocal altruism' (one hand washes the different.) Honesty and dishonest behaviors are hardwired into us on an instinctual aspect. They ascertain our "experience of justice", this is solid in even very childrens, and maximum moral and non secular structures. party - the Golden Rule and karma.

As long as you're totally honest with yourself, you're alright. People interpret the world according to their own preconceptions, so "lying" is like social lubricant.
