i would personally pick a dog becuase dogs seem all round better. I have had a cat and a dog, and i like my dog more than i liked my cat. My dog was also friendly, loves to play, and is also eager when i get home....i would totally recomend getting a dog,,,When i think about getting a cat, i think about cats, i think of getting scatched and cleaning out a litter box, SEriously, at least dogs go outside!

you should have a cat because it is always there and either wants to love you or wants to play.
If you get a dog you would want a small dog because it would be like a cat but if you get a big dog, you couldn't love it as much as a cat.
So I'd say cat.

I have a dog and a cat. if you want a very independant animal that doesnt take up all of your time go for a cat. If you want an animal that you can really bond with and is more work, go for a dog. My personal recomendation is a dog.

It depends on what kind of person you are.
CATS are usually stand-offish, and see you mostly as a source of food and attention. They don't take a lot of training (squirt them with a water gun if they do something bad, etc), and aren't very destructive. They shed like Hell, and really like fleece (some cats suck on it).
DOGS are playful and protective. They see you as a companion, and you should see them as part of the family. They require a lot of attention (some breeds of dogs become very destructive if they are lonely), and most breeds need to be exercised regularly and need a lot of room. Most dogs shouldn't be hard to train, and shedding and drooling varies from dog to dog.

Dogs are better if you have tons of time to spend with them and to give them exercise. Cats are more independent and better if you have a busy lifestyle that can't include them. I think cats are generally less expensive also. I have a big puppy and my life and finances revolve around her. She's worth it.

If your an energetic person I say go for the dog, they need an owner with lots of energy who can walk them and make time for them, If your more laid back I say go for the cat, they dont need to be walked and keep themselves busy.

well depends on what you like
dogs will come when called and do funny tricks. THey are very loyal and will be there when you call them, downsides---they chew on things, have to be potty trained, jump on people, and often are aroudn when you don't want them to be as well, some also have that humping problem
cats on the other hand, they don't often come when called---although mine will, they tend to leave you alone unless they want you, they are litter trained without much assistance, and thier purrs are really cool.
I prefer cats,----btu if you really cant deside----get both!
