The fact that everyone came to the world the same way and what gives one person the right to dictate to another person how to live? The ones with the most power get to dictate and the worms that live under that rule get to study it.

Well in the US, it is the foundation and guidelines to legitimate and acceptable human behavior. More interestingly, I believe people are involved in the violation of the law because it involves so many aspects of legal approaches.
Lawyers and prosecutors go into law because they are experts in understanding the language of law and using that language to protect or prosectute offenders.
Law is probably one of the few things that we ALL are "supposed" to follow. What makes it interesting is the fact that laws are created and upheld for every imaginable human interaction or behavior. The subject of law will never get old because everyday there are new situations that must be dealt with and law is the only route in enforcing and restricting certain acts/behavior/omissions.

Two reasons, speaking only for myself.
First, I like rules-systems. I enjoy understanding how rules work, and why, and figuring out how they fit together. I used to do computer systems design before going to law school, and I write game systems as a hobby. I just enjoy working with rules systems.
The other reason is because I also enjoy helping people figure out to resolve their problems. In between computers and law, I did mediation and counseling, which is all about helping people figure out what the want and how to get there. I went into law for the same reason, so that I could help people resolve their problems.
Unlike most lawyers, I don't enjoy drama and conflict. I don't like litigation. I prefer people resolve disputes in mediation, and I think people should resolve their disputes before they start by working out agreements that actually address their needs.
So, I like law because I like rules-systems, and because I like helping people, and this lets me do both.

a lot.....it tells you how to get a big divorce settlement from your cheating spouse, gives you an idea on how to get even with your crazy neighbor, makes sure there are competent doctors/nurses to handle your life in the hospital ( & that you can get a large lawsuit compensation for the brain damage you received), it keeps your ferrari safe (somehow) from any person who might want to drive it, decides who gets the kids/the dog/the house, it can take anything, everything from you - are you interested now?

truthfully, its only the drama of the courtroom, as played in movies and on tv. the best way to kill your interest in the law is to go to a real courtroom and watch. it takes all day to decide the stupidest question.
