Are you asking because you are not sure you should be dating him? if so, my answer is yes. I would and I am, except he is done with the parole thing. Here's the thing though, you shouldn't do it if his bad habits are getting in the way of you spending time with him, and he shouldn't pressure you to do anything that you don't want to, you should only have to say no thanks once, if he is persistent you need to find someone new, because this will only get worse and he will find some one that wants to do these bad habits with. As long as you are both clear on what you are wanting/willing to do and not, just because someone does things that aren't good doesn't mean they are a bad person overall.

NO. It might be all nice 'n good in the begining, but think logically: would you feel safe embracing a relationship, that the guy was in prison, smoked weed, drank, 24/7? What he was in prison for is something that is scary enough, but someone who smoked illegal stuff, gets drunk, that just overtops the list. Dear, don't risk yourself for that guy! There's better ones out there!!

Sometimes the facts alone can answer the question for you.

It really doesn't matter how charming he is or how much he digs you- these are the guys your mother should have warned you about, if she had her head on straight, which mine never did-(beside the point, I know, it's not about me).

Anyway, the answer is NO. Keep looking.
