My wife and I used to argue a lot, I was nasty about it to. (Don't worry I grew up, now we hardly fight at all and when we do I do my best to be the husband she needs me to be) During these vicious fights, she would run to the bathroom. Why do a lot of women do that? Now please know that I don't say ALL women do this. All the gals I've known and have asked have told me they are guilty of it though.

to "get away" from it all. sometimes it's hard when a man insists he's right, even when he's wrong. women don't punch walls, but they do like the loud bang (door slamming, etc, to cut out the noise).
I go to my bedroom, slamming the door on the way. the worst thing you can do is follow and continue the argument, the best is give her a little time then be the one to hold the proverbial olive branch.

I couldn't say. I never ran anywhere but stood nose to nose with whomever I was arguing with. I always believed it was best to fight it out, discuss it whatever had to be done just get it over with so I could go back to being me as quickly as possible. Glad to hear you grew up though. Did something happen to help you make the change, or was it just age?

cuz the bathroom is the place that they think they can get some privacy and check their faces to see if they're acting like a total mess during their fight

I do that coz I dont like to be seen crying and sometimes I like to cry infront of the mirror. Pretty simple!

Its the only place you can go to act like your mad and check your self out and like some women do when they get mad....throw up.

I think the response above me is probably closest - it's a small room, it's dark, and there's only one way in, so in a weird way it feels more secure.

And the more obvious answer, if you're crying and you don't have kleenex boxes all over your house, you have tons of toilet paper to dab your eyes and blow your nose, duh!

bathroom = privacy. There aren't many background noises, and there's only one way in.

She is in shock that you are treating her like this and she is going to cry and she doesn't want you to see it. Or she wants you to chase after her and apologize to her.
