What cars are considered "American Muscle"? Would a 1994 Mustang with a built up engine be classified as that?

I have a 1994 Ford Mustang with a built up 302, is there any name that can be given to this, i.e. American Muscle, Tuners, Rice Burners, etc.

muscle car is a rather generic term. all a muscle car is, is basically a high performance model offered from the factory. So a newer mustang GT could be considered a muscle car. When most people use the term muscle car they are referring to 64-72 mid size bodied cars ie GTO, chevelle, fairlane. While mustangs, camaros, cudas, challengers, and amx's were normally referred to as pony cars. which is basically a small sporty car. in my opinion if your car was souped up from the factory then yes it is a muscle car. If you did if yourself then you got a hot rod or something else.

True American Muscle cars were built in the 60's and 70's mustang is just left over parts from chevy and dodge

That's a good question! I have a 1990 Mustang I would classify it as American Muscle but not Classic American Muscle. Anyone have anymore info on this? I want to know too haha.

American muscle usually refers to the OLDER Mustangs, Camaros, Firebirds, etc. By older I mean 60's or 70's.

Nope, original American muscle cars came from the sixties and early seventies.

What you have is a re-make wannabe - probably a great ride but not a classic.
