How do you fade lighter cotton fabrics like a Bandanna?

I just got this bandana for my dog but the purple is too loud and not dull enough so it doesn't match his collar like i wanted it to....

I really want to do it with out using bleach.....

It sounds like it's full of dye. Try washing it a few times by itself with hot water. Hopefully enough of the dye will come out in the rinse.

Put it in the wash by itself with a little bleach, that should work.
